Added to our policies are external standards and initiatives in which we participate. Taken collectively, this set of internal and external commitments form the operational boundaries for working toward sustainable development. Key external initiatives are presented in the table below.

Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI)*
We endorse the EITI. The DRC and Indonesia are candidate countries under EITI and, thus, our TFM and PTFI operations participate directly. Our Cerro Verde operation also participates in Peru which became an EITI compliant country in February 2012. |
GBC Health
Since 2011 we have been a member of this coalition of member companies and organizations committed to making a healthier world, including in the communities where we work. |
Global Reporting Initiative (GRI)
We have reported according to the GRI guidelines since the 2005 reporting period. |
ICMM (Sustainable Development Framework)*
We have been a member of ICMM since it was established in 2001. Our President and Chief Executive Officer served a three-year term as Chairman of ICMM between 2008 and 2011. |
International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 14001
Our operations maintain Environmental Management Systems certified to ISO 14001 standards (TFM and Climax are expected to receive ISO 14001 certifications in 2012/2013). Every major operation must undergo a robust internal audit of environmental systems and compliance at least every two years. |
Occupational Health and Safety Assessment Series (OHSAS) 18001
All operating sites have achieved accredited OHSAS 18001 certifications of their health and safety management systems, with the exception of TFM which expects final certification in the first half of 2012. Universal Declaration of Human Rights
The Freeport-McMoRan Human Rights Policy requires the Company and all of our contractors to conduct operations in a manner consistent with the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. |

We have been an active member of the Voluntary Principles on Security and Human Rights (Voluntary Principles) since it was first established in 2000. |

Industry Associations
