Freeport-McMoRan belongs to a variety of industry associations and also works closely with international and non-government organizations to develop appropriate standards and guidelines for our industry. We also participate in several trade associations and other industry organizations that help establish or influence public policy. Freeport-McMoRan maintains a dialogue with governments and regulators at all levels where we have significant operations regarding regulatory issues and other items of business interest. Freeport-McMoRan representatives lobby the U.S. federal government, local, state governments and governments in other jurisdictions, from time to time, regarding issues of interest to the industry or business issues generally. All lobbying activities are conducted in compliance with relevant laws and disclosure obligations. The primary issues in which Freeport-McMoRan participates in public policy development include regulation of the mining industry, environmental regulation, water rights and business taxes. Freeport-McMoRan, and its subsidiaries, do not contribute to any individual candidate for political office, official of a political party or committee or organization for the election of a particular candidate to any political office in any jurisdiction. This policy is stated in our Principles of Business Conduct.
