Freeport-McMoRan is one of the world's leading producers of copper cathode, which is the raw material input to the production of continuous cast copper rod for the wire and cable industry. Cathodes are also used to produce high quality copper tube, brass and other extruded copper products. Copper Cathode is a traded commodity in the world's metal exchanges in New York (Comex), London (LME) and Shanghai (SHFE). Freeport-McMoRan operates two electrolytic refinery (ER) and eleven electrowon (EW) tankhouse facilities in the U.S., Europe, South America, and Africa. These operations produce copper cathodes that meet the ASTM B 115 chemical specification for high grade copper. Freeport-McMoRan produces 12 brands that are registered as good delivery with the New York Commodity Exchange (COMEX). In addition, six of these brands are also registered as good delivery with the London Metal Exchange (LME), and four brands are registered on the Shangahai Metal Exchange (SHFE).
