under way to expand production capacity, extend mine lives and develop

projects include:
- The expansion of the Cerro
Verde mill, which reached capacity in mid-2007;

mining complex at Safford, Arizona, which began production
in December 2007;

The restart of a mill and the completion of a concentrate-leach, direct-electrowinning
facility at Morenci;

The planned restart of
the Climax molybdenum mine in Colorado, which is expected to begin
production in 2010;

The planned restart of
the Miami mine in Arizona for an approximate five-year period;

The development
of the Tenke Fungurume mine in the Democratic Republic of Congo, which is expected
to commence operations in 2009;

The development of a large sulfide leach deposit at El Abra that will extend
the mine life by over ten years with production from the sulfides expected
to begin in 2010;

The expansion of the DOZ
underground mine in Indonesia to 80,000 metric tons per day, with completion
targeted by 2010;

Other developments of
large-scale, high-grade underground ore bodies in the Grasberg minerals
district in Indonesia; and

Incremental
expansions at the Morenci, Sierrita and Bagdad mines in Arizona, and the
Cerro Verde mine in Peru.
